Michael Jackson's Birthday Burial?

Weird? A little. Cyclical? Definitely. Appropriately mythology-building? As if you would expect anything less from the Jacksons.

Unofficial (and often unsought) family spokesman Joe Jackson claims that the family has finally set a burial date for his son, with Michael Jackson due to be interred in nearly two weeks' time, on what would have been his 51st birthday.

Papa Joe revealed to the New York Daily News—in exchange, it seems, for some column inches on the latest signing to his ever pimped-out record label—that the King of Pop will be laid to rest in Los Angeles' Forest Lawn Cemetery on Aug. 29 at 10 a.m., more than two months after his June 25 death.

(Guess this means we can kiss goodbye any plans for an unmarked grave—announcing the exact date, time and location of his burial more or less renders any privacy moot.)

During the revelation, Jackson, who has already retaken to his life in Las Vegas, also managed to squeeze in a plug for the Palms Casino, announcing that he will return to Sin City after the Saturday burial to accept a star from the hotel in his son's honor.

A grieving, publicity-hungry father's work is never done.

Meanwhile, not to be outscooped, the New York Post reported over the weekend that the King of Pop is currently chilling out in the freezer at Forest Lawn.

As for Jackson, he also spoke out, somewhat surprisingly, in support of Dr. Conrad Murray, for whom things continue to look, well, not good.

Jackson said he supports the Los Angeles Police Department's cross-state investigation into his son's death, but worries that Murray may turn into "the fall guy for a whole lot of people."

As for Katherine Jackson, whom Joe told the NYDN was taking her son's death hard and frequently bursts into tears over the loss of Michael, her attorneys will be back in court this morning to hash out more plans for his estate.

The judge is expected to rule today on merchandising that could potentially be generated by the estate, and may sign off on several pending million-dollar deals to license and merchandise products connected to the King of Pop.

Michael still not buried

Jackson Family May Purchase Private Garden for Michael's Final Resting Place. Michael Jackson is still "not buried yet," but we're hearing that he may be getting close.

A source close to the Jacksons tells E! News that the family is now looking to purchase a private garden at Forest Lawn Memorial Park so that ultimately, the entire clan can be laid to rest, side by side.

"They are waiting to work out the details on buying plots for the whole family before they lay Michael to rest," says the source.

Each garden, which runs about $253,000 and is enclosed by a brick wall with flowers surrounding it, can hold up to eight plots.

Wait a minute, the garden only accommodates eight people?

Hmmm, we did the math and in this case, eight definitely isn't enough.

There are nine Jackson siblings (with their various families), along with parents Joe and Katherine Jackson. No word yet on who won't make the cut.

Meanwhlie, E! News was also able to locate the hitherto hard-to-find Forest Lawn grave of Michael's grandmother, Martha Bridges, and contrary to some accounts reporting a hush-hush burial of Jackson's body beside Bridges, no signs of a fresh grave, or any new grave nearby, were located.

Marcia Cross takes her twins to the park

Motherhood clearly agrees with Desperate Housewives actress Marcia Cross. Since welcoming her twin girls in 2007, the US star is often pictured having fun with her daughters. And while the location varies, one thing remains constant – her broad smile.

Marcia's joy at being a mum was once again plain to see as she spent the day out with Savannah and Eden and her husband Tom Mahoney at a play area in Los Angeles.

To the delight of her two-and-a-half-year-old girls, mum took a hands-on approach to the day's fun activities, kicking off her shoes and rolling up her jeans as she encouraged the two little girls to play.

And, evidently keen to interact with her children, Marcia embraced her own inner child and took Savannah and Eden down the slides in the park herself before kneeling down in the sand to watch as they played in a toy house.

Michael Jackson autopsy results to be withheld

Although the results of Michael Jackson's autopsy have been finalised, they will not be made public because of the ongoing inquest into his death.

The coroner's office is abiding by a request from LA police to keep the king of pop's cause and manner of death confidential.

Michael's post-mortem was carried out on June 26 - a day after the singer died - but cause of death was deferred pending the outcome of toxicology tests.

The ongoing investigation into his death has come to focus on the singer's alleged addiction to prescription medication.

Police last month carried out two searches on properties connected to Michael's doctor, Conrad Murray.

The physician, who was with Michael when he died, has not been named as a suspect in what police are investigating as a manslaughter case.

Halle Berry rules out marriage

Since getting together with model Gabriel Aubry in 2005, Halle Berry has been happier than ever before.

But the actress has some surprising news about her relationship - she has no plans to wed the Canadian hunk, and feels no guarantees that their love will be for life.

"Gabriel and I don’t look at our relationship in terms of for ever, we look at it as right here today," says the actress, who has a one year-old daughter, Nahla, with 32-year-old Gabriel.

"And today means being the best people we can be, the best parents we can be. It’s wonderful, but neither one of us feels the need to attach ourselves to each other for life - because it may not be that," the 42-year-old told the Mail On Sunday.

Twice-divorced Halle continued: "I once was stupid enough to say, in a previous relationship, 'I'm going to be with this person for ever,' and realised, as I grew, that I don’t know if for ever is possible. I'm much clearer about what a relationship is, which is why I will never marry again."

Halle was wed to baseball player David Justice from 1992 to 1997 and to musician Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005.

Jacob Zuma to address Women's Day celebrations in KZN

President Jacob Zuma will on Sunday, 09 August 2009, deliver a keynote address at the National Women’s Day celebrations in KwaZulu Natal province, Vryheid, Bhekuzulu Sports Grounds.

The 2009 National Women’s Day Celebrations are jointly hosted by the Ministry of Arts and Culture, the Ministry for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities and the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.

This year’s Women’s Day celebrations take place under the theme “Together empowering women for development and gender equality”, a call by government to all sectors of society, to unite in a national effort for the advancement of women in all spheres of our national life.

The 2009 Women’s Day celebrations mark the 53rd Anniversary of the historic 1956 Women’s anti-pass march and it is an opportunity to pay tribute to the ordinary women who have contributed to our liberation and to the building of a united, non-racial, non-sexist and democratic South Africa.

As a build-up to the main event, the two Ministries will on Saturday, 08 August 2009, host a gala dinner where 18 Kwazulu-Natal-based projects will receive funding to the value of R11.5 million as part the Department of Arts and Culture’s Investing in Culture Programme.

Through the Investing in Culture Programme, the Department provides empowerment opportunities for unemployed people through skills development, training and job creation. Since 2005, the programme has benefited 95 projects in Kwazulu Natal to the value of R54 million.

Government has made great strides towards the achievement of legislative equality between women and men. Many women have benefited from the expansion in the provision of basic services including water, electricity, sanitation and provision of social security benefits, amongst others. Government acknowledges that more still needs to be done to ensure that all women are uplifted from the conditions of poverty and underdevelopment.

Noting the importance of the social and the economic empowerment of women, Government has established a Ministry dedicated to serve the interests of women, children and persons with disabilities. The establishment of the new Ministry is an important milestone and will go down in history as one of the progressive steps in addressing the challenges facing women.

President Jacob Zuma will be accompanied by the Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Lulu Xingwana, the Minister for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities, Ms Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya, the Premier of KwaZulu Natal, Dr Zweli Mkhize and other senior government officials.

In addition to the national celebrations, various provinces will host mini events in commemoration of the Women’s Month.

Peter admits there's work to be done

Springbok coach Peter de Villiers knows has admitted there's still work to do if they hope to lift the Tri-Nations trophy.

His comments come after his team's 31-19 win against New Zealand in Durban on Saturday, their second successive victory over the All Blacks.

The victory stretched their lead at the top of the log.

But with only one home game remaining against Australia in Cape Town next week, before they play three matches overseas, De Villiers says he expected more from the world's top ranked side.

“We've only won two games and there are still four games to be played,” De Villiers said.

“After the next few games we can talk again about that, but the platform is there and we know where to work from.

“Next week's going to be a different kettle of fish and everything starts again tomorrow after they've celebrated a lot of things in this team, especially the two fifties and the world record of sixty caps from the captain.”

John Smit earned his 60th cap as skipper to become the most experienced international captain of all time, while wing Bryan Habana and centre Jean de Villiers earned their 50th caps on Saturday.
