Night Drive - Chrish Beasley outshines hundreds of hopefuls to win coveted lead role.

The anticipation is building...with just 8 days before shooting begins on NIGHT DRIVE, further excitement is added today with the announcement by producers of the movie, The Film Factory, that popular television star and accomplished actor, CHRIS BEASLEY has secured the lead role of Sean Darwin, ex-cop turned poacher hunter in this local action thriller/horror movie which begins shooting on 29 August.

Chris needs no introduction to South African audiences, having played the role of controversial TV anchorman Len Cooper on the popular local television drama series, Isidingo  since 2001 to great acclaim, also notching up various accolades along the way including nominations for Best Actor Award in 2005 & 2007’s Crystal Awards and a SAFTA nomination in 2007.

Audiences have been glued to their screens as Chris playing Len has shocked and intrigued them, and soon they will get the chance to see a whole new side of Chris Beasley the actor as he takes on the role of idealist Sean in Night Drive, confirming that he is an actor of international star quality, so necessary for Night Drive with interest from international shores increasing daily in the movie.

Chris jumped at the chance of being a part of Night Drive. He states; “I feel as if this role was written for me. I was given the script and just couldn’t put it down – what grabbed my interest immediately was the fact that this is certainly not your typical horror where it’s all blood, guts and gore, this for me is actually an intelligent thriller with a storyline of real depth.”

He continues, “What adds to the movie’s allure for me is that while it has the beautiful African bushveld as its backdrop, the movie also highlights issues that are really close to my heart; the plight of the suffering these areas are currently having through poaching and killings for muti purposes. I was instinctively drawn to this meaty role because of the fact that while audiences will be riveted to the screen watching all the action, they will also be made aware of these atrocities that are NOT fiction – they most certainly are happening on a daily basis in our bush.”

Chris then adds on a lighter note, “and which guy wouldn’t want to fulfill that childhood fantasy of being an action hero and get the chance to ride around on a motor bike all day!” (*motor bike sponsored by Pro Action)
